Dr. Catherine "Cathy" Dingman started her medical career first as a nurses' aide and then as a nurse. She worked for several years in a Medical-Surgical Intensive Care unit before deciding that becoming a physician was the best way to continue her career. She returned to school at NC State and received a degree in chemistry. She continued her education at UNC medical school and decided to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Dingman completed her residency at UNC Memorial Hospital in 1988 and was Board Certified in 1990.

Dr. Dingman has been practicing in the Raleigh area since completing her residency, spending the first part of her career focused on Obstetrics. With a growing family of her own and increased demands on her time, she eventually shifted her focus to Gynecology and Gynecologic surgery. Dr. Dingman no longer does Obstetrics. In addition to general Gynecology (menopause, sexual health, and basic infertility), Dr. Dingman is an accomplished laparoscopic surgeon. As one of the first Gynecologists in this area to train for and perform laparoscopic hysterectomies, she has stayed at the forefront of minimally invasive Gynecological surgery. Currently, she is the only Gynecologist in the area certified to perform da Vinci surgery.

Her hobbies include quilting, weaving, and triathlons. She has even knitted a few socks along the way! Family time with her husband and three boys is centered on sports activities including soccer, golf, basketball, and cycling.
